Catalonia and Barcelona take center stage in the countdown to the Guadalajara International Book Fair 2025

The countdown has begun for the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL). In just a few days, one of the major literary events in the Spanish-speaking world will open its doors, and Catalonia will once again have a prominent place with its own dedicated space, bringing together publishers, agents, and other industry professionals. Everything is ready to celebrate creativity, exchange, and the power of books at this year's fair.

From November 29 to December 7, Catalonia and Barcelona will participate in the 39th Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL), reaffirming their position as a key player in the international publishing scene. This year, the region will once again have a 135 m² institutional stand, designed as a meeting point and platform for Catalan businesses and cultural agents. The space, organized by the Catalan Institute of Cultural Enterprises (ICEC) of the Department of Culture, in collaboration with the Catalan Publishers' Association and the Association of Publishers in the Catalan Language, is presented under the slogan "Catalonia, land of books; Barcelona, literary city ," a message that seeks to project a cohesive and representative image of the sector.

The Catalan presence is shaping up to be a true showcase of the diversity, vitality, and international reach of its publishing industry. The stand will bring together professionals, authors, and institutions committed to promoting Catalan literature abroad. Beyond serving as an operational base, the space aims to foster new business opportunities, strengthen networks, and forge closer ties with the Latin American market.

This year, Catalan participation has grown significantly: 119 publishers will attend the fair—71 more than in 2024—most of them integrated into the institutional stand, while others will have their own dedicated spaces. Additionally, 10 Catalan literary agencies will participate in the Rights Fair, reinforcing the country's presence in the international circulation of books.

Alongside this intense publishing activity, next Wednesday, December 3, bonart will hold the official presentation of issue number 1 of its international edition , a project that promotes the global projection of the publication and strengthens the dialogue between artistic scenes from different countries.

The launch will take place at the Casa del Tiempo Cultural Center, an iconic space in Mexico City and a leading center for artistic and cultural dissemination. In this meaningful setting, bonart will present its new publishing project to art professionals, creators, institutions, and the general public, with the aim of opening new avenues for collaboration and promoting creative exchange between Mexico, Catalonia, and the rest of the world.

The Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) has established itself as the most important publishing event in Latin America and one of the world's leading cultural festivals. Founded 39 years ago by the University of Guadalajara, FIL combines its professional focus with complete openness to the reading public, a characteristic that sets it apart from other major international book fairs. While maintaining its role as a space for business and exchange within the book industry, the fair was conceived from its inception as a true festival with literature at its heart. Its program brings together authors from every continent and in multiple languages, and also includes ample space for academic discussion on current global issues.

During the nine days of the event, readers have the opportunity to meet their favorite authors, while the publishing industry transforms Guadalajara into its main meeting point. At the same time, the city becomes a vibrant cultural hub, hosting music, art, film, and theater from the Guest of Honor country or region, which this year will be Barcelona.
