Jo Milne and Martí Ripoll have created the exhibition Territoris In-Visibles at the Galeria Espai Cavallers in Lleida, which will be on view until August 31. Two perspectives that offer contrasting ways of approaching the gaze. They take the reflections of Yi-Fu Tuan who opens paths for the investigation and understanding of place, Italo Calvino proposes a dreamlike archaeology of meaning. In this exhibition, Martí Ripoll and Jo Milne construct universes that oscillate between the visible and the invisible, between the tangible and the imagined.

  • Earth and Horizon work by Martí Ripoll.

Jo Milne creates works that start from essential forms -lines, circles and points- that refer to structures inherent in mathematics, science or technology. They are networks that expand and establish connections with models of theoretical science, cosmology or microscopic biology. These pieces construct a visual cosmos made of repetitions and intricate systems, with the will to give shape to that which, in everyday life, escapes perception.

Martí Ripoll's work explores themes such as identity, the memory of the rural world, the abandonment of the territory and the urgency of preserving traditions and the bond with the land. These elements are especially evident in the series Beatus Ille , a critical reflection on depopulation and the growing disconnection with the agricultural landscape and the knowledge that inhabits it.

  • Micro-Bio work by Jo Milne.

Both Jo Milne and Martí Ripoll seek creation from the territory in the Espai Cavallers Gallery, from searching for less tangible domains, of knowledge, memory, until reaching perception. Ripoll reimagines and remembers, adapts and transforms; Jo Milne starts from observation, from structures such as networks or filaments.

Despite their diverse approaches, Ripoll and Milne trace a common dialogue with the landscapes that surround them. Their works act as open windows that invite us to rethink our relationship with the environment: which territories do we truly inhabit? And how might we learn to look at them with a new gaze?
