Ni de lluny soc jo is the exhibition by Gadea Burgaz at the RocioSantaCruz gallery that can be seen until September 13 as part of Art Nou 2025. This is the artist's first solo exhibition in this space where the body, text, objects and moving images are intrinsic elements of the artist.
The tour works as a diptych where it is a visual display in addition to the performative action Em Presento and this artistic tandem revolves around elements such as identity, memory and personal transformation. This division obeys a continuous process of reconstruction and transformation, in which apparently separate elements are integrated to give shape to a complete and profound vision of being. In the works, where the camera or the gaze is directed towards themselves, Burgaz will be present in a recurring manner, even if they are not strictly self-portraits.

In the words of the artist herself: “it responds to two specific circumstances: the gallery space and the moment in which the proposal was written. The pieces have been created following the first intuitions of this initial text, which began with the phrase 'Not even remotely am I' or 'Nowhere near it's me'. The text of the proposal is based on the idea that my pieces are not even remotely my self-portrait. A small fragment of it has been the object and the driving force of all the pieces in the exhibition”.
His projects blur the contours of the classic self-portrait, questioning its limits and certainties. Not from afar am I myself emerges as a murmur that runs through the entire exhibition, a seed-phrase from which germinates a reflection on the distance that separates the image from the being, the mask from the face, the dress from the lived.

The Madrid artist comments: “I never stop framing things (situations, letters or bodies). You could even say that I frame the gallery door itself. This door becomes a frame, like the structure of a canvas. I am interested in the classic idea of painting on canvas. Body on frame”.
