Eva Miquel: going through the wait
An intimate exploration of time and human experience through drawing and photography.
Eva Miquel (Barcelona, 1970) arrives at Palmadotze with an exhibition focused on drawing, a discipline that, over the years, has intertwined with photography and video. In Transitar l'espera the artist proposes a visual pause, a serene journey through simple scenes that often go unnoticed, portrayed with extreme sensitivity and a strong introspective component. There is also a delicate dialogue between line and image, which explores the emotional dimension of human experience.
Known for a solid career that combines graphic and audiovisual techniques, Miquel is now committed to a collection of black and white drawings made with graphite pencils. The works, worked with precision and care, often start from previously captured photographic images, which are transformed on paper into compositions full of silence and nuances. There is no stridentness or artifice, there is an apparent calm that opens the door to a contemplative experience.

However, photographic resources remain present and allow him to add new dimensions to his creations. Through techniques such as enlargement, serial reproduction or the use of light boxes, Miquel reinterprets and revitalizes the photographic origins of his work. The result is a synthesis of creative processes that integrates a contemporary, poetic and, often, subtly intriguing look.
Eva Miquel graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona. Since December 2024 she has been part of the residency program at the Piramidón Contemporary Art Center, in Barcelona. In recent years, her work has been seen in various institutional spaces such as the National Museum of Anthropology (Madrid), the National Museum of Underwater Archaeology ARQVA (Cartagena), the Altamira Museum within the framework of PhotoEspaña, the Museum of La Seu d'Ègara (Terrassa) or La Neomudéjar (Madrid).
