First solo exhibition by artist Yamandú Canosa in Sao Paulo, specifically at the Zielinsky gallery in the Brazilian city. Always attentive to the transformations of his environment, of the local and global order, he has now created the exhibition Echo and Place that can be visited until June 7 in the most populous city in the entire South American country.
The work of Yamandú Canosa is the result of a theoretical reflection based on the inability to understand the world through its representation, which transports you to the need for extension with each of his works. The Uruguayan artist investigates these limits of language, also of memory, extending it to cultural identities and migratory processes.

Eclecticism is one of the elements that best defines his career, however, Canosa creates a dialogue in Zielinsky between modernity and contemporaneity. He has done so in the last two decades with a figurative, abstract and textual iconography with a kind of expanded notion between drawing and painting.
With Eco e Lugar, a horizon traverses all the rooms of the Sao Paulo gallery, transforming the space into an enormous transparent landscape, replicating the echo using a large mirror. The exhibition itself is a kind of large site-specific installation, establishing a dialogue with two recurring themes within the work of Yamandú Canosa in the last twenty years: echo and place.
Yamandú Canosa a Zielinsky São Paulo
Two concepts that have gone in parallel to the way of thinking, devising and creating, always recurring in the artist based in Barcelona, and he explores them with various formal approaches. The series of polyptychs Lloc, is a synthesis of the transversal concepts that arise from an idea from the place, an experience of the migrant. The series Ressò, is the sound of a circle of bounce in a closed space, with a principle of repetition and propagation.
Persistence of the image, reflection, sound quality, space of representation and memory. Yamandú Canosa exhibits Zielinsky with a set of elements that are protagonists, creating visual sequences and new artistic grammatical forms. Passeio em eco reveals the recurring character of the forms and these repetitions between macro and micro.
