Massacre: a critical reflection on the image in times of necropolitics
The Espai d'Arts de Roca Umbert hosts the presentation of Mercè Alsina's essay, as part of the exhibition 'Sense sortida'.
Roca Umbert Fàbrica de les Arts presents Massacre. Post-Photographic Logics in the Paradigm of Necropolitics, an essay by researcher and curator Mercè Alsina that analyzes how visual artists, photographers and filmmakers challenge dominant narratives of war and violence through disruptive iconographic practices. The work reflects on the collapse of traditional photographic language and proposes a new critical perspective.
The essay has been edited and produced by Roca Umbert Fàbrica de les Arts, with the support of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat, and also becomes the guiding thread of the exhibition Sense sortida. L'embat de les economies depredadores, curated by the same author and open to the public at the Espai d'Arts until June 8. The project seeks to break with the single and anesthetized vision of destruction, proposing, instead, acts of aesthetic disobedience that question the limits of representation and open spaces of symbolic resistance.
The public presentation of Massacre will take place on Saturday, May 24 at 12 noon, with a conversation between Mercè Alsina and curator and cultural thinker Andrés Hispano. The event is free with prior registration here .
