Pacifiction ("Tourment sur les îles"), Albert Serra's new film, arrives in cinemas from Elastica and Filmin, and on the platform a few months later. At the end of May, Serra presented his latest film in the official competition section of the Cannes Film Festival. The film, shot in French Polynesia, arises from the interest to talk about the world "today" but framed "plastically in a context of visual fantasy" of an overseas territory. As is usual in his filmography, Serra once again mixes established actors with other non-professionals and defends that he works in the same way.

Serra sees his latest film as a "natural continuation" of his filmography, despite the fact that this time it touches on "very contemporary" aspects. The film is set on an island in Tahiti, in French Polynesia, where a representative of the French state lives. Between the political representatives and the lowest social stratum of the citizens, the plot takes the pulse of a local population in which anger can be unleashed at any moment.

The Filmoteca de Catalunya has started the season with the preview of Serra's latest film, and on September 1 hosted the preview of director Albert Serra's last film, a work between thriller and inner journey, which contrasts the idea of paradise and corruption, successfully screened at the last Cannes Film Festival. The Catalan director will also be the protagonist of one of the sessions of the September program of the Filmoteca de Catalunya, with the cycle "Unforgettable moments", which on September 25 and 27 will remember the premiere of "The death of Louis XIV " in 2016, according to the institution.
