The Espai Isern Dalmau in Barcelona hosted yesterday, Wednesday 14 October, the presentation of Sic et Non , the new book of poems by the sculptor Gabriel, published by TUT Edicions. The event included the participation of art critic Jesús Martínez Clarà, philologist and editor Quico Ferran and Ricard Planas, who accompanied the author in an approach to a work that expands the territories of his artistic practice. The meeting highlighted the continuity between sculpture and writing in a trajectory in which poetic reflection shares the same formal and conceptual requirements with the material.
The title, a Latin expression meaning 'yes and no', points towards a space of tension in which dualities are not necessarily resolved in a definitive answer. In Sic et Non , the word becomes a form of artistic exploration, with a hermetic language that invites us to question the relationship between sensible reality and meaning. The collection of poems thus extends an investigation that Gabriel also develops in his sculptural work and in his theoretical texts, situating creation in the uncertain territory where matter, thought and poetic experience meet.
