Miralda opens her archive
PALMADOTZE presents ten projects by the artist in a pop-up exhibition that allows you to discover his creative universe and the links between art, food, ritual and anthropology.
PALMADOTZE begins the season with Miralda: Open Archive. 10 projects , a proposal that invites you to delve into Miralda's creative universe through a selection of ten projects from her personal career and the work developed within the framework of Miralda/FoodCultura. The exhibition can be visited from 17 to 20 September 2026, in pop-up format and within the Flash program of the Barcelona Gallery Weekend 2026.
The proposal also offers an exceptional opportunity to discover Miralda's studio in Barcelona and to directly approach the research processes that have defined a trajectory marked by interdisciplinarity, collaboration and interest in forms of celebration and collective imaginaries. The workspace thus becomes an extension of the exhibition and a gateway to the artist's methodology.
Internationally recognized for a practice that blurs the boundaries between art and everyday life, Miralda has explored throughout his career the relationships between art, food, ritual, monument and public space. His work is particularly interested in the symbolic charge of food, traditions, ceremonies and other forms of cultural representation that articulate communities and their memory.
Miralda: Open Archive. 10 projects focuses on the archive as a space of knowledge and as a creative territory. The selection brings together objects, photographs, drawings, documents and other materials from the Miralda/FoodCultura Archive, which allow us to reconstruct the different layers of research behind some of its most significant projects.
This look at the archive also allows us to discover FoodCultura, the research platform launched by the artist in the early 2000s and dedicated to studying the cultural, social and symbolic dimensions of food. Food appears not only as a daily necessity, but also as a language capable of activating memories, identities, rituals and social relationships.
The selected materials therefore function as fragments of a much broader universe. Each document, each photograph or each object preserves a part of the process and allows us to understand how Miralda constructs projects that arise from observation, research and contact with different cultural contexts. The archive thus ceases to be a repository of the past and becomes an active tool for thought and creation.
In parallel with the exhibition, PALMADOTZE proposes a visit to Miralda's Barcelona studio, an experience that reinforces the close and immersive nature of the project. The tour will allow you to learn first-hand about the methodologies, references and connections that articulate her artistic practice, and to get closer to a trajectory in which art, culture and everyday life appear closely intertwined.
