Art Nou closes its fifteenth edition by vindicating the new voices of emerging art
The closing ceremony at La Capella marks the end of an edition that has brought together 110 artists and has recognized the EXs and etHALL galleries with the SWAB and Art-O-Rama awards.
Art Nou has concluded its fifteenth edition after a tour of different spaces in Barcelona and L'Hospitalet that has once again placed emerging practices at the center of the artistic scene. The festival, promoted by the Art Barcelona association, has brought together a total of 110 artists this year and has closed this new edition with several recognitions for artists and galleries.
Among the awards of this edition, those granted to two galleries in L'Hospitalet stand out. The SWAB Award went to EXs, for the proposal of the artists Jamín Giudici and Leire Lacunza Miranda, while the Art-O-Rama Award recognized etHALL for the project of the artist Marga Estelrich. Two awards that contribute to strengthening the projection of the participating projects and opening up new avenues of professional and international visibility.
In addition to these awards, the Art Nou 2026 Award was presented to the artist Elsa Casanova, presented by ADN Galeria. The award recognizes an emerging career that is part of a generation of artists who find in Art Nou a space to make their practices known and establish new connections within the contemporary artistic landscape.
The festival closed on September 3 at La Capella, on a day that combined live artistic creation with the presentation of the 2026 Art Nou Award. The event started with the performance Cos estrán , by Alicia Val, presented in collaboration with Club9.
Born in Barcelona in 2003, Alicia Val develops her practice between sculpture, performance and image. Her work starts from a kind of cosmological fiction in which the boundaries between the human and the spherical are blurred. Through this approach, the artist constructs scenarios where matter and movement become tools to explore other forms of perception.
With a look marked by the poetic dimension and experimentation with materials and the body, Strange Body served as a symbolic closing of an edition that has once again put the focus on the possibilities of emerging art.
