The intimate fiction of the archive
Hernán Aguirre turns Chiquita Room into a boutique of souvenirs, objects and invented stories with the exhibition 'Celestino Boutique', within Art Nou 2026.
As part of Art Nou 2026, Chiquita Room presents Celestino Boutique from June 26 to September 3, the new project by Argentine artist Hernán Aguirre (San Miguel de Tucumán, 1993), with a curatorial text by Leto Ybarra. The exhibition proposes a reflection on memory, identity and the limits of sculpture based on a universe that combines reality and fiction.
The exhibition is structured around a large piece of furniture conceived by the artist as a container for his personal archive. This central element becomes the starting point of a journey in which everyday objects, paintings and invented pieces dialogue with each other, constructing an autobiographical story that constantly moves between memory and imagination. Aguirre transforms his own biography into a fictional narrative, where each object functions as a fragment of a possible story rather than a lived event.
With Celestino Boutique , the artist questions the traditional idea of sculpture and blurs its boundaries, situating the work in a hybrid territory between object, installation and archive. The proposal puts the very act of construction into crisis, turning accumulation, classification and exhibition into creative gestures.
Hernán Aguirre's artistic practice is characterized by the use of recovered materials, discarded objects and personal archives loaded with memory and affection. Through these elements, he develops a work that investigates public identities, the emotional relationship with objects and the figure of the artist within the social imaginary. His pieces contrast the fragility of materials with an aesthetic of precarious luxury, generating tensions between dignity, loss, desire and representation.
As a closing activity, on September 2 at 7 pm there will be a guided visit with Hernán Aguirre and psychoanalyst Antoni Canyelles Suau, a conversation that will delve into the multiple readings of an exhibition that turns the personal archive into a space for storytelling and artistic experimentation.
