This summer, Palafrugell adds a new event to its cultural calendar with the birth of AcCent Cuixart, a proposal promoted by the Modest Cuixart Foundation that will transform the gardens of the Espai Cuixart into a meeting point between visual arts, live music and gastronomy. From June 27 to August 28, the public will be able to enjoy a multidisciplinary program designed to celebrate the centenary of the birth of one of the most outstanding artists of the Catalan avant-garde of the 20th century.

More than a commemorative tribute, AcCent Cuixart is conceived as a living cultural experience that highlights the validity of Modest Cuixart's creative universe. The cycle was born with the desire to demonstrate how his work continues to inspire new generations of creators and to promote an open, participatory and emotional way of experiencing culture.

The name of the initiative summarizes this philosophy. On the one hand, it incorporates the initials of "activities" and, on the other, refers to the artist's centenary. The result is a proposal that connects memory and contemporaneity, tradition and experimentation.

Over the course of nine evenings, five visual artists will establish a direct dialogue with Cuixart's work through ephemeral exhibitions in Pop-Up Art format. Their creations are based on original works by the artist and offer personal readings that translate the Cuixartian spirit into current artistic language. The participants in this first edition are Pep Ribé, Om Barbarà, Cae Piñol, Àlex Pallí and Enric Iglesias, names that represent different sensibilities and disciplines of the contemporary scene.

Music will also play a leading role in this celebration. The program will bring together a dozen proposals that travel through styles as diverse as blues soul, acid jazz, flamenco, pop, funk, African music, boogie boogie or indie folk. Among the guest artists are Myriam Swanson & Jordi Mena, Warren Walker, Cristina Florido Cia, LAAZA, Just For Funk, Maria Sigaa, Xiripa Combo & Juliette, Wax & Boogie, Lucila Ruiu and DJ Carlos Bayona.

The opening, scheduled for June 27, will set the experiential tone of the cycle. Artist Pep Ribé will star in a live action painting, creating a work inspired by a piece by Modest Cuixart in front of the audience. The evening will continue with a session by DJ Sound Sistem and will culminate with a concert by Jaume Vilaseca and David Soler, who will present an immersive tribute to the sound universe of Pink Floyd.
