On June 18, 2026, the National Museum of Ceramics and Sumptuous Arts 'González Martí' held an emotional tribute event dedicated to Enric Mestre Estellés, one of the most outstanding ceramists of contemporary Spanish ceramics. The event brought together family members, students, colleagues and experts in the sector, who shared memories and reflections on his life and work.

Enric Mestre, with more than fifty years of experience, is recognized for his work characterized by formal rigor and constant aesthetic research. His production, focused on ceramic sculpture, is present in both public and private collections internationally, as well as in numerous interventions in public spaces in Valencia.

The museum's director, Jaume Coll Conesa, inaugurated the event together with Inmaculada Hernández-Mompó, president of the Friends of the Museum Association, and Javier Mestre, son of the honoree. The professor and art critic Romà de la Calle offered a comparison on the figure of Mestre, highlighting his contribution to the world of contemporary art.

The day included the presentation of the screening 'Enric Mestre, the imprint of the landscape', by ceramist Rafaela Pareja, who analyzed his work and career. In addition, a round table was held coordinated by sculptor Carmen Marcos, with the participation of ceramists such as Juan Ortí and Xavier Monsalvatje, as well as historians and researchers linked to the artist.

The National Museum of Ceramics has wanted to recognize with this tribute the extraordinary contribution of Enric Mestre to the development of contemporary artistic ceramics and his influence on new generations of creators. His relationship with the museum dates back to 1979, with numerous exhibitions and collaborations that have helped to spread contemporary ceramics. In 2024, he received the Professional Excellence Award granted by the Friends of the Museum Association, which has also recently incorporated two of his works into the museum's permanent collections.
