On June 9, 2026, the Teatro Alcázar in Madrid hosted the 2026 ARQUITECTURA Awards gala, where three Catalan works were recognized for their excellence in the field of architecture and urban planning. The Spanish Architecture Award was awarded to Can Saltiri, an intervention for the recovery of access to the Rupit Castle, designed by Carles Enrich Studio. This work stands out for its ability to improve access to one of the most significant heritage sites in the Osona region.

The Spanish Urban Planning Award went to the Special Urban and Urban Improvement Plan for the Residential Fabric of the Fira de Barcelona and the Model, prepared by the Urban Planning Department of the Barcelona City Council and Barcelona Regional. This project seeks to transform an obsolete fairground into a new fragment of the city, with a focus on sustainability and social inclusion, which includes 500 public housing units.

Finally, the Permanence Award went to the restoration of the Santa Caterina Market, carried out by the prestigious Miralles Tagliabue – EMBT studio, which was completed two decades ago. This work has managed to maintain its relevance and functionality in the urban context of Barcelona, standing out for its architectural innovation and its integration into the urban landscape.

The gala was attended by more than 500 attendees, including the authors of the 25 finalist proposals. In addition to the awards, the Gold Medal of Architecture was awarded to architect José Ignacio Linazasoro, recognizing his contribution to the field. The president of the CSCAE, Marta Vall-llossera, stressed the importance of architectural quality as a reflection of democratic quality and called for the need to build an architecture that responds to current social needs.

The Royal Monastery of Santa Maria de Sixena, in Villanueva de Sixena, has received the Rehabilitation Award at the 2026 Architecture Awards, which recognizes the values associated with innovation, diversification, dissemination and dissemination, for the intervention project carried out by the Pemán i Franco Arquitectes and Sebastián Arquitectes studios.

The winners received a sculpture called TOITS, made with Obsidian COMPAC®, the official sponsor of the awards. The ceremony was hosted by journalist Marta García and included artistic performances that enriched the event.
