INSPAI, the Image Center of the Girona Provincial Council, has announced that Judit Luna Minguell has been the winner of the 24th edition of the Young Photographers of Catalonia Award with her project entitled Moon, Don't Cry . This work stood out among more than seventy projects presented, thanks to its strong documentary component and its ability to generate a deep emotional response in the viewer.

The project Lluna, no ploris is a photographic series that explores the author's relationship with her father, who struggles with alcoholism. Luna Minguell, born in 1999 in El Bruc, reflects on intimacy and mental health through images that reflect the reunion with her father and the domestic space of her childhood. The title of the project comes from a writing she found during this reunion, which expresses a message of comfort and hope.

The jury, made up of leading professionals in the world of photography, praised the narrative power of the work and its solid structure. The head of INSPAI, Natàlia Navarro, and other members of the jury stressed the importance of the sensitivity with which the author addresses such delicate issues as addictions and mental health. The prize, endowed with 2,500 euros, has doubled compared to the previous year.

The winning series will be exhibited at INSPAI, at the Casa de Cultura de la Diputació de Girona, next October, where a catalogue will also be published. In addition, the exhibition will be part of several photography competitions and festivals, including the Perpignan Off Festival and the Olot Photography Biennial.

Judit Luna Minguell, currently residing at Fabra i Coats in Barcelona, has participated in several exhibitions and continues to work on projects that link photography with social reflection. Her work not only seeks to document, but also to generate a space for dialogue on topics that are often stigmatized.
