The Network of Museums of the Terres de Lleida and Aran commemorates its tenth anniversary coinciding with International Museum Day 2026, which this year has as its motto Museums uniting a divided world . This event not only serves to look back and highlight the path taken, but also to project a new stage aimed at strengthening the link with citizens and making the work of museums more visible.
The celebration is accompanied by a diverse and open program, with open days, guided tours, exhibitions, concerts, family activities and artistic actions. In addition, there is a joint audiovisual campaign that aims to explain, in a shared way, the work carried out by the museums throughout this decade.
The presentation of the program and the anniversary took place at the Balaguer Museum, coinciding with the founding date of the Network, established on May 6, 2016. The meeting brought together representatives of the different facilities that are part of it and included the participation of illustrators Clara-Tanit Arqué and Carlotta Cataldi, who provided a visual look at what it means to work in a network within the museum world.
Over the past ten years, the Network has established itself as an essential tool for territorial cooperation. Its work, often discreet but fundamental, has allowed museums to be strengthened by pooling resources and knowledge, as well as promoting shared projects in areas such as collection documentation, preventive conservation, restoration, research and exhibition production. It has also played a prominent role in digital transformation and improving accessibility, offering advice, training and strategic support.
Now, coinciding with this anniversary, the Network is beginning a new stage with a renewed strategic plan that is committed to more direct communication and greater openness to society. This new orientation is also materialized in the renewal of its image, with a new logo and a story that claims museums as living spaces: narrators of the passage of time, custodians of memory and active agents in the cultural construction of the territory.
The International Museum Day program will be mainly concentrated between 15 and 18 May, coinciding with Museum Night (Saturday 16) and with open days throughout the facilities of the Network. The proposal includes a wide variety of activities -guided tours, temporary exhibitions, talks, concerts, artistic actions, family workshops and participatory initiatives- spread throughout the territory. In Balaguer, the Museu de la Noguera will offer guided tours and the screening of a documentary about Abu Bakr de Tortosa, while the Segre Gold Interpretation Center will offer gold prospecting workshops. In Cervera, you can see a female reinterpretation of the Medieval Passion and a new artistic exhibition, and in the Valls d'Àneu and Gerri de la Sal there will be concerts, visits and poetic tastings. Other spaces such as the Guissona Museum, the Conca Dellà Museum or the Seu d'Urgell Museum will complete the offer with festive activities, conferences and presentations linked to heritage and research.
In Lleida city and other parts of the territory, the programming maintains this diverse and transversal character. The Morera. Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art will host a live artistic action by Pep Aymerich and several exhibitions, while the Museum of Lleida will experience a particularly intense Night of Museums with openings, family activities and live music. In Tàrrega, the local museum will combine visits, interactive games and concerts, highlighting the exhibition Viure la mort , produced by the Xarxa, while in Capdella the public will be able to participate in the start-up of a historic locomotive. In Aran, the Musèu dera Val d'Aran and the Musèu dera Nhèu will offer exhibitions, guided visits and family activities linked to natural and cultural heritage, consolidating a programming that strengthens the connection between museums, territory and citizens.
