Palma de Mallorca is transformed from this Thursday into one of the main focuses of international contemporary art with the arrival of Art Cologne Palma Mallorca, a new fair born from the collaboration between the historic German fair and the gallery owners' association Art Palma Contemporani. The event, which is held until Sunday 12 April at the Palau de Congressos, brings together nearly 90 galleries from around twenty countries, configuring a program that combines consolidated names in the international market with emerging spaces and more experimental proposals.

The official presentation of the fair took place in La Llotja, in an event attended by authorities such as the President of the Government, Marga Prohens, the President of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, and the Mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez. During his speech, Prohens stressed the relevance of this cultural event and defined it as “an event that writes the name of culture in gold letters”, and announced that work is already underway on the second edition of the fair for 2027.

Art Cologne Palma Mallorca is divided into two large sections. The first, Gran Saló , hosts galleries with a consolidated trajectory focused on modern, post-war and contemporary art. The second, Parkour , functions as a platform for young projects and more risky proposals, offering a space for experimentation and renewal within the artistic circuit. Both sections are distributed over different floors of the venue, allowing visitors to explore a wide range of styles and trends in one place.

The Spanish presence is particularly prominent, with more than 30 participating galleries, many linked to the Balearic Islands. This not only reinforces Palma's role as a strategic enclave within the European artistic circuit, but also turns the fair into a showcase for local talent, combining the island's artistic tradition with new perspectives and innovative proposals. Art Cologne Palma Mallorca is thus projected as a true cultural ecosystem, where tradition and avant-garde coexist, established and emerging artists, and proposals that seek to challenge the limits of contemporary art.
