Starting this April, the municipalities of Vilassar de Dalt, El Masnou and Arenys de Mar will host the exhibition The First Steps Towards Democracy (1976-1978) , a journey through the recovery of democratic memory at the beginning of the Transition. This exhibition, promoted by the Barcelona Provincial Council in collaboration with the Democratic Memorial, is part of the Online Memory project, which aims to bring recent history closer to local museums.
At the Municipal Nautical Museum of Masnou, the exhibition delves into the first general elections held in 1977 with the space The first general elections in Masnou (April 9 to May 16). Visitors will be able to discover how groups such as the Socialist Party of Catalonia (PSC), the Unified Socialist Party of Catalonia (PSUC), the Union of the Democratic Center (UCD) or the Democratic Pact for Catalonia (PDC) burst into local political life.
In Arenys de Mar, the Museum proposes Art as Reason: Espriu and his visual world (April 17 to July 12), a look at the world of the poet and writer Salvador Espriu, author of Cementiri de Sinera, and a key figure in cultural Catalanism and the collective historical memory recovered during the Transition.

Meanwhile, in Vilassar de Dalt, the exhibition A Garden for Vilassar (April 25 to June 30) focuses on the neighborhood mobilization of the 1970s to convert the Cal Garbat site into a green landscaped area, a reflection of the recovery of self-government and the new cultural normalization after Franco's death.
This traveling exhibition will run until the end of the year in a total of 24 facilities of the Local Museums Network. During this month of April, it can also be visited at the L'Hospitalet Museum-Casa Espanya, the Sitges Museums, the Museum of the History of Immigration of Catalonia-Municipal Archive of Sant Adrià de Besòs “Isabel Rojas Castroverde”, the Torre Balldovina Museum in Santa Coloma de Gramenet and the Tomàs Balvey Museum-Archive in Cardedeu.
During the month of May, the Calella Tourism Museum-Calella Municipal Historical Archive, the Castellbisbal Countryside Museum and the Badalona Museum will join in. Finally, from September until December, the exhibition will reach museums in Sant Boi de Llobregat, Mataró, Montcada i Reixac, Mollet del Vallès, l'Esquerda, Sant Cugat, Tona, Viladecans, the Vinseum in Vilafranca, Manresa and the Cèntric Espai Cultural del Prat de Llobregat.
