The 2026 edition of the MOT, a literature festival, will be held between March 19 and 28 under the motto Me'n vaig. The journey in literature . This event, organized by the city councils of Girona and Olot with the support of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Girona Provincial Council, allows the relationship between first-class authors and the reading public. Under the direction of curator Eva Vázquez, the festival proposes a reflection on the journey as a literary creation, from the need to leave to the personal transformation that any journey entails.
The program will begin in Olot, specifically in the Sala El Torín, from March 19 to 21. On Thursday 19, Míriam Cano and Oriol Canosa will open the conversations with La senda grega , followed by José Ovejero and Bibiana Candia, who will talk about journeys that go wrong. On Friday 20, it will be the turn of Joan Benesiu, Antoni Martí Monterde and Maria Stepanova, with talks focused on the paths of Europe and memory. On Saturday 21, the Plaça del Mig will host the VerMOT with Rosa Maria Calaf, followed by sessions with Elisabet Riera, Cristina Masanés and the Italian Gian Marco Griffi.
From March 26, the festival will move to the Carles Rahola Library in Girona. The conversations will begin with Núria Perpinyà and Irene Pujadas on the inner odyssey, and will continue with Julio Llamazares focused on the journey to the past. On Friday 27, Saray Encinoso, Marc Colell and Eimear McBride will explore the invention of places and waiting. The closing, on Saturday 28, will include a VerMOT with Jordi Lara and Josep Maria Argemí in Plaça dels Mercaders, a poetry session with Adrià Targa and Lluís Calvo, and the final conference by Jean Echenoz.
On the other hand, the +MOT program will offer activities such as the exhibitions Una imatge, mil paraules at Can Trincheria and Viatjar sense mapa at Espai Rusca. Also noteworthy are the presentations of books by authors such as Stefanie Kremser, Vicenç Villatoro and Alfred Bosch, as well as the Minimot workshops and shows at the Teatre Principal d'Olot and the Teatre Municipal de Girona. The program is completed with family activities, literary routes and audiovisual projections that allow the festival to be extended throughout the territory.
