Until May 31, the Terracotta Museum of La Bisbal d'Empordà hosts the temporary exhibition En trànstit , an exhibition that captures the creative universe of Emili Biarnès, one of the most recognized artists on the contemporary scene in the field of ceramics. The exhibition allows us to delve into the process of research and experimentation that characterizes the artist's career, highlighting his unique way of understanding ceramics as a versatile and constantly evolving plastic language.

Biarnès' work stands out for its ability to combine diverse materials, innovative techniques and a very personal artistic sensibility, always with ceramics as its central axis. Visitors to the exhibition can appreciate how the artist constantly explores new forms, textures and conceptualizations, constructing pieces that are at once delicate, evocative and experimentally risky.

In Transit is not just an exhibition of objects, but a journey through Biarnès' creative research trajectory. Each piece reveals the balance between artisanal tradition and contemporary innovation, inviting the viewer to reflect on the role of ceramics in contemporary art and the way in which materials can be transformed to express unique ideas, emotions and narratives.

With this show and this exhibition tour, the Terracotta Museum consolidates its commitment to the dissemination of artistic ceramics and to the visibility of creators who, like Emili Biarnès, not only work with the material, but also constantly experiment with it to expand the limits of artistic language.

The title of the exhibition, In Transit , evokes the idea of constant movement and transformation, reflecting the way in which Emili Biarnès' pieces act as a bridge between the traditional craft of ceramics and the expressiveness of contemporary art. His work places us in that diffuse territory where the boundaries between art and craft fade away, demonstrating that, although he has often been classified as a ceramist, Biarnès transcends this label. He is, fundamentally, a painter and sculptor, a creator who uses ceramics as a support to unfold his own artistic universe. In his case, technical mastery is not an end in itself, but a tool at the service of the expressive force of his work.

The artist works with low-temperature earths, ferruginous pastes and porcelain made by hand, incorporating iron and metallic finishes that he achieves through firing in a reducing atmosphere. This rigorous attention to technique, combined with a deep poetic and plastic sense, turns his pieces into true bridges between artisanal tradition and contemporary artistic research, where each object is at once a tool, expression and experiment.
