Trained in Art History and Social and Cultural Anthropology, Isabel Graupera completed her academic career with a master's degree in Initiation to Research in the Humanities and is currently developing a doctoral thesis focused on visual anthropology, memory and intangible heritage. Her professional career has been oriented mainly towards cultural management, research and teaching in the fields of Art History and Anthropology.

His project has been selected in the inter-administrative competition called by the Barcelona City Council to take over the management of the museum, a position that he is expected to officially occupy from February 2. Graupera's candidacy has obtained the best assessment by a jury chaired by Lluïsa Pedrosa, Director of Resources at the ICUB Management, and formed by Teresa Bastardes, Head of the Collections Department at the Design Museum; Salvador García Arnillas, Head of Department at the Frederic Marès Museum; Anna Castellano, Head of Department at the Royal Monastery of Pedralbes Museum, and Núria de Luna, Human Resources Technician at the ICUB Culture Management, as secretary.

Until Graupera's appointment, the direction of the Ethnological and World Cultures Museum had been in charge of Carles Vicente, who had held the position since Josep Fornés' departure in 2020. The process to fill the vacancy has been complex: a first internal call, aimed exclusively at municipal staff, was left empty, which prompted a second inter-administrative call, also restricted, but open to civil servants from other administrations.
