From November 8, 2025 to January 18, 2026, the Cork Museum will host Blau Salat , the latest pictorial project by Palafrugell illustrator Anna Grimal. This exhibition invites viewers to explore a fascinating and evocative universe, where water, salt, wind, mermaids and monsters become protagonists of an intense and poetic visual landscape.
The result of a year of research and experimentation, Blau Salat delves into the collective memory and maritime legends of the Empordà. With a mixed and experimental technique that combines paint, wax and pencil, Grimal builds a universe where texture and light evoke the strength and mystery of the sea, as well as the stories that beat beneath the waves. As the artist explains: “These are works born from an underwater world, of trying and experimenting, of wanting to find something new… I'm sorry if someone is not convinced, but I think I'm living a moment of transition, and this is also seen in my work. During my research I have discovered things that I don't want to stop telling: little anecdotes of the sea. I have enjoyed the journey, the process and, now, the result.”

The exhibition is much more than a set of paintings: it is an invitation to immerse yourself in the magic of the Empordà coastline, to look at the sea with new eyes and to be captivated by its ancient and mysterious beauty. Each work is a fragment of a world that seems suspended between reality and fantasy, where mermaids and monsters are not just mythological beings, but metaphors of memory and human emotions.
Anna Grimal, born in 1985 in Palafrugell, discovered her passion for drawing at a young age, which brought her to Barcelona to study art, design and illustration at the Escola Massana. During her years of study she spent time in Belgium through the Erasmus program, and later established her artistic base in her hometown, combining the tranquility of Baix Empordà with the connection to media and projects in Barcelona.

His career is characterized by constant reinvention and experimentation with diverse techniques: gouache, pen, spray, manual work and digital collage, applied to very varied formats such as editorial illustration, posters, murals, consumer products and even filters for social networks. Grimal has also explored themes such as the female figure, mental health and nature, always with an innovative and personal approach.
