Bonart and Casa del Tiempo premiere the first issue of the international magazine in Mexico
César Martínez stars in an iconic cover and a performative presentation that unites art, literature and contemporary culture together with the FIL of Guadalajara and ArtsLibris.
Bonart, Casa del Tiempo, FIL de Guadalajara and ArtsLibris. Four projects closely linked to the world of culture and art that, these days, are becoming protagonists in Mexico. All four make up a vibrant map of editorial, artistic and intellectual proposals that dialogue with each other and contribute to enriching the cultural scene. From the presence of platforms dedicated to criticism and artistic dissemination to spaces that celebrate literature and independent publications, these initiatives highlight the creative vitality of a cultural context in full effervescence.
The FIL in Guadalajara opened its doors on November 29th and will run until December 7th, once again becoming a magnet for publishers, readers and creators from all over the world. This year it does so with ArtsLibris and with the city of Barcelona as the guest city, a gesture that puts into circulation transatlantic dialogues and creative complicity between Mexico and Catalonia.
At the same time, the Casa del Tiempo is becoming an almost inevitable setting these days, a point of confluence where cultural time seems to expand. It is in this context that issue 1 of the international Bonart magazine is being presented today, a launch that brings a symbolic and poetic dimension to this constellation of initiatives, as if they all breathed at the same rhythm and contributed to drawing a shared cultural geography.
César Martínez, central figure of this new issue of Bonart (the second after issue 0) and protagonist of a cover specially conceived for the occasion, will assume the role of moderator during the presentation. The event will culminate with an unexpected and evocative proposal: a performative tasting of canapés, created by the artist himself, which transcends the gastronomic experience to become an artistic gesture in itself.
The Mexican artist created one of the covers of this number 1 of international bonart Mexico identifies with the proposal of César Martínez Silva and The idealized body , a work that directly questions the social and symbolic constructions around identity. Each cover, with its own conceptual and aesthetic weight, thus becomes a singular gateway to the same collective story.
Before reaching this moment, the event will begin with the words of Ricard Planas, who will open the reflection and give context to the launch of the magazine and this international issue. Afterwards, attendees will be able to enjoy the video by Roc Parés, a piece that dialogues with the spirit of the issue, and listen to the contributions of Otto Cazarés and Luz Massot, who will provide complementary perspectives on art, creation and contemporary culture. A program that combines speech, image and action, and that transforms the presentation into a polyphonic and lively experience.
