The twenty-fifth edition of the Catalan Magazine and Press Night took place on November 5 at the Casino l'Aliança in Poblenou, in an event organized by APPEC. The association vindicated the role of Catalan magazines as safe spaces for reading, reflection and creation, as well as essential drivers of the country's culture.

During the evening, the awards for the best publications and journalistic works of the year were presented, which the jury had announced in the previous days. In this edition, the biannual magazine Solstici was recognized as the best magazine, the weekly Nova Conca as the best press publication, and Time Out Barcelona as the best digital medium.

The awards for the best reports went to Revista Cambrils (press category) and Horitzons (magazine category). In terms of editorial design, the winners were the quarterly magazine Oryx , the newspaper SomGarrigues and the digital The New Barcelona Post . The public also had a say through popular voting to choose the best covers of the year, which were recognized by Saó (magazine) and Fonoll (press).

In addition, the APPEC board awarded special awards: the Communication Award to the comedian and communicator Peyu, and the Culture Award to the bookseller Joana Serra.

The celebration also served to pay tribute to the trajectory of several publications: the 50th anniversary of the magazine El Breny , and the 25th anniversary of Protagonistes ja!, Viure en família and Agrocultura . An afternoon and evening that, beyond the recognitions, highlighted the vitality and importance of journalism and magazines in Catalan as a fundamental pillar of contemporary culture.

The event was attended by the President of the Parliament, Josep Rull, and the Minister for Language Policy, Francesc Xavier Vila Moreno, as well as numerous personalities from the world of communication, culture and society from all over the Catalan Countries.

In his speech, Germà Capdevila, president of APPEC Magazine and Digital Publishers, stressed the need for a firm institutional commitment to guarantee the sustainability of the sector. "If we want a powerful cultural sector, we need to allocate 2% of the Culture budget to it and have a system of objective, transparent and well-funded aid," he claimed.
