Last days to see Anagnòrisi, by Jordi Isern

The Convent of Sant Agustí in Castelló d'Empúries has become from July 12 to August 17 a space created by the work of Jordi Isern with Anagnòrisi , a title that comes from ancient Greek and refers to the moment in which a fundamental truth is recognized or discovered, as manifested in classical works such as Oedipus or Ulysses. This exhibition shows a selection of recent large-format works that establish a dialogue with the architecture of the convent, generating an introspective and contemplative atmosphere.

The whole ensemble invites us to reflect on the mystery of the human condition within the suggestive setting of the church or chapel of the former convent of Sant Agustí in Castelló d'Empúries. In times marked by speed and showiness, Jordi Isern proposes a pause, a slow approach and silent contemplation, reclaiming the mystery and focusing on the great questions surrounding human existence.

Jordi Isern seeks to capture not only light, but also the specific atmosphere that surrounds a given moment, that ephemeral sensation that escapes immediate perception. Anagnòrisi is presented as a proposal of abstract realism in which the artist invites the viewer to establish a dialogue with the work, discovering tensions and contrasts that structure their visual experience.

Through his work, essential dichotomies can be perceived: light and darkness, matter and spirit, concreteness and abstraction. Isern does not impose anything, but rather proposes a space where the gaze moves between these opposites, stimulating reflection on the fragility and complexity of human perception and existence itself. Last days to visit Anagnòrisi at the convent of Sant Agustí in Castelló d'Empúries.
