The Seas That I Am by Francesc Ruiz lands in Calonge

The Castell de Calonge inaugurates the season of art exhibitions with a double exhibition. Frabcesc Ruiz Abad with Els Mares que sóc and Dimitri Kosiré and the exhibition Un Pavarotti canta miglior sobre el sus arbre . Two exhibitions that can be visited from July 5 to August 3.

Francesc Ruiz takes full prominence on the ground floor of the Castle with a union of sea, imagery, forms and Colors. Blue is the axis and guiding thread of the Palamós artist's discourse where it dialogues perfectly with the other colors. Very linked to the municipality, he presents a collection as a space of life, color and contradictions.

With a powerful catalogue, Francesc Ruiz Abad: homo natura, homo animalis, combined with this exhibition tour of the Calonge Castle. “And in this healthy line of research, I have long incorporated Francesc Ruiz Abad (Palamós, 1990) into this very particular imaginary. A man born by the sea, with an always friendly deixis and who, steeped in this healthy tradition of nautical imagery, of contact with nature, with fishermen, with birds, with fish, with the Catholic tradition, but which he exercises from a secular perspective, has managed to represent animals/humans in the midst of wild or friendly nature and has done so successfully through drawing, muralism, painting and ceramics. With an almost electric blue, perhaps it does not reach the Klein blue, as a leitmotif”, writes Ricard Planas, one of the people in charge of the texts together with Dayneris Brito and Pau Minguet.

A journey with eighty pictorial works following this thread of blue, the shapes of the sea and life. From a friendly interpretation there is a reflection on the natural and human threats that affect the marine environment. Works from the last five years with the imagination of the Mediterranean with oceanic and transatlantic paintings.
