Luis Moro's art takes over the MUSAC to raise the voice of the Earth
The Roar of the Earth opens the summer season at MUSAC with an exhibition of the 2022 Castilla y León Prize winner for the Arts. Luis Moro brings together up to 100 previously unpublished works at the Castilian contemporary art museum, with large-format paintings, drawings, and materials linked to his creative process.
Curated by Fernando Castro Flórez, this exhibition reflects on the relationship between humans and nature in the current context of climate crisis. This approach addresses this issue of the constant transformation of life and the loss of biodiversity through a poetic and critical lens.

This new exhibition, entitled The Bellowing of the Earth, by Luis Moro (Segovia, 1969), will be on view at MUSAC until October 19. The exhibition, based on post-expressionist figuration, is parallel to a dialectic of tradition and culture. The animals, his contemporary bestiary, are part of these creations present at the museum, and he does so with animal symbolism (elephants, sheep, storks, etc.), combined with urban settings in which the absence of human figures is noticeable.
Fernando Castro Flórez explains how, “Luis Moro's work, in which the plausible and the random work together to create a beautiful nature, has something of a catharsis in relation to the ongoing (climate) catastrophe. This artist has spent years developing a critical aesthetic regarding the necrobiopolitics that defines us.”
