The Portalblau Festival has published a pioneering guide to integrating the gender perspective into the organization of cultural festivals, a project promoted by Cristina Torres Encinas , head of the festival's Values and Commitment program. With more than 25 years of experience in cultural management and social commitment, Torres Encinas has created a document that combines a clear methodology with practical resources to incorporate the gender perspective in a transversal and intersectional way in all stages of a festival, from planning to evaluation and continuous improvement.
The guide, reviewed by Mònica Gelambí Torrell , PhD from the URV with a European doctorate, founder of Atena Gender Consulting and with an extensive career in the design and implementation of public equality policies, offers a solid conceptual framework that emphasizes principles such as equitable representation, the visibility of silenced voices, the fight against violence and the active defense of diversity. These values are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, especially with SDG 5 on gender equality.

Organized into eleven chapters, the guide presents from theoretical foundations to specific diagnostic and monitoring tools, addressing key aspects such as artistic programming, contracting, communication, team composition and space security. It also includes specific indicators to evaluate and improve the application of the gender perspective in real time, as well as a glossary and a review of the regulatory framework that supports this initiative at the international, state and local levels.
This project is part of the Portalblau Festival's Values and Commitment strategic line, an initiative born in 2020 that promotes a sustainable, inclusive culture committed to current social challenges. The guide is released under a Creative Commons license to facilitate its maximum dissemination and reuse, with the aim of contributing to a fairer and more plural cultural ecosystem.
Cristina Torres Encinas, founder of TEM Productions and director of the El Puig Center, has also led other cultural projects with a strong social orientation, such as the Músiques Sensibles festival, awarded the FEST Award for the best festival in equality and diversity in Spain, recognized for its commitment to equality and diversity. For her part, Mònica Gelambí Torrell has a doctorate from the URV with a European doctorate mention, founder of Atena Gender Consulting and expert in the design and implementation of public equality policies, especially at the local level,
The Portalblau Festival , jointly organized by TEM Productions, the L'Escala City Council and the Museum of Archaeology of Catalonia – Empúries, is thus consolidated as a space that not only combines music, performing arts and thought, but also promotes a transformative and critical culture with strong local roots and a global impact.
