The eighth edition of ARCOlisboa is already history and does so as a backbone of the contemporary world in the Portuguese, but also European, sphere. A new edition that receives more visitors than 2024 and as in previous editions, the fair had the support of the Government of Portugal with the visit of the President of the Republic Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, as well as the Minister of Culture, Dalila Rodriguez, and the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas.
Dynamism in sales and total commitment among collectors with an edition that brought together 83 galleries from seventeen countries, turning the capital of Portugal into the great artistic and cultural epicenter of all of Europe. “The attractiveness of the artistic proposals presented by the participating galleries, together with the dynamic cultural program of the city's public and private institutions, has been key to attracting prominent collectors and professionals worldwide,” explained Maribel López, director of ARCOlisboa.

Spanish galleries once again had an important role in the eighth edition with diverse formats and varied works. Around thirty Spanish galleries were at Cordoaria Nacional, a place once again chosen by the organizers (IFEMA Madrid and Lisbon City Council) where Spanish art captured the attention of the audience, becoming the second most relevant and considerable presence, almost in parallel with that of Portugal.
ARCOlisboa closes the doors of 2025 with a good balance in parallel with ArtLibris, the international artist's book fair that reached its seventh edition with the participation of thirty publishers. Since the first day of the celebration, acquisitions have been confirmed such as those of the Camara Municipal de Lisbon, which has purchased a total of 14 works by seven artists: Gabriela Albergaria, Ana Jotta, Carla Filipe, Mónica de Miranda, Maria Condado, João Maria Gusmão, Jonathan Saldanha. The ARCO Foundation acquires works by Carla Filipe, Marina González and Nana Mandl, which will become part of the collection within the CA2M in Madrid.

The ARCOlisboa awards have also grown and the Madrid gallery Travesía Cuatro wins the III Fundação Millenium bcp Award for best stand; the Opening Lisboa award was for Enhorabuena Espacio with artists such as Venuca Evanán and Fátima Rodrigo. The MACAM (Museu de Arte Contemporãnea Armando Martins) has awarded the Acquisition Award to the work of Glenda Leon from the Max Estrella gallery.
The focus is already on the ninth edition of ARCOlisboa, which will be held from 28 to 31 May 2026 in the same space as the Cordoaria Nacional. As a reminder, the ARCOmadrid fair will be held from 4 to 8 March 2026 at the IFEMA exhibition centre in Madrid in its 45th edition.
