Creating your own paths: Caminhos at the MNAC in Chiado
Collective exhibition at the Millenium bcp Gallery of the National Museum of Contemporary Art Chiado in Portugal.
Inspired by the thinking of the American writer and naturalist Henry David Thoreau, the exhibition revolves around the representation of paths, of symbols that require contact with nature, of creation in the form of journeys. Caminhos. Coleção Millenium bcp, at the Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea - Museu do Chiado, is the new temporary exhibition curated by Emília Ferreira, Regina Branco and Joana d'Oliva Monteiro that will be on view until August 24.
An exhibition path with works selected for the occasion from the Millenium bcp collection where the present, the concept of today, leads to questions of great need and from here we must trace our own path within society. More than thirty works by the same number of artists, mark the route of Caminhos with pieces from the 19th to the 21st century.

The places of creation suggest the relationship with physical places, spiritual paths and our imagination, in parallel with the notion of space-time or even the construction of memory. The first starting point will be the closest, that of landscapes that give security until reaching places where they propose important challenges, whether internal or external, but also lead to the extreme via time or space.
From the unknown, spatial and temporal element to the important concept of starting the path with the plurality of representations. In the future, this exhibition of the Millenium bcl Gallery of the Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea do Chiado (MNAC), will publish a catalogue that will be part of the present and the future with texts from the three curators, together with unpublished essays.

This exhibition in Chiado is part of the plan of activities to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the Millennium bcp Foundation. Over the years, the Foundation has supported numerous cultural and heritage enhancement initiatives, highlighting museological and landscape recovery projects.
