The artist from Guipuzcoa, Antón Eguiguren, arrives in Tarragona with an exhibition that highlights his unique contemporary style. The pieces on display, in various formats, reflect the mastery and pictorial personality of Eguiguren, a creator with more than sixty years of artistic career and one of the drivers of artistic renewal in the Basque Country during the sixties. His visual language is marked by bright colors, decisive strokes and a clear predilection for the female figure.
Born in Zumaia in 1946, Antón Eguiguren began painting as a self-taught artist at a very young age. Together with his brother Ramon, he played a key role in the artistic avant-garde of his environment, exploring disciplines such as drawing, painting, photography and experimental cinema. In the sixties he produced several short films that surprised with their groundbreaking nature in a still conservative social and artistic context. He later settled in Barcelona, where he developed a successful career in the audiovisual sector, focusing on photography, computer graphics, cinema and advertising, without ever leaving painting aside. His work has been exhibited in cities such as Bilbao, Madrid, Barcelona, London and New York, and in 1994 he starred in a retrospective in Zumaia that collected his creations from the beginning.
The exhibition can be visited until August 3 , an opportunity to rediscover the creative universe of an artist with a career both nationally and internationally.
