The exhibition Guinovart-Furriols: tangents presents an artistic encounter between Josep Guinovart (1927-2007) and Joan Furriols (1937), two creators with different aesthetic paths but a common creative essence. The show highlights how both understand art as a space of constant exploration, where matter and technique become fundamental axes of their work.
In the context of an era marked by Francoist repression, Guinovart and Furriols coincided with other artists of the fifties in the search for new forms of expression far removed from official conventions. This rebellious and innovative attitude is reflected in a trajectory faithful to the same vision and marked by the will to transform. Despite sharing roots, their work takes very different paths. As the curator of the exhibition, Anna Llopis , expresses it, “Guinovart's explosive forcefulness is contrasted with Furriols' suggestive subtlety”. It is precisely in this opposition that the encounter occurs, a point of contact where divergence is transformed into visual complicity. The exhibition opens tomorrow, June 1st, and can be visited until October 19th.
