The round trip of Alberto Carrera Blecua
bonart huesca - 26/05/25

Story in the form of an exhibition in the exhibition hall of the Huesca Provincial Council where tribute is paid to the artist Alberto Carrera Blecua (1952-2017) under the title Round trip journey that can be visited until July 20. An exhibition that captures the power of return without return, from alpha to omega, with a discovery of oneself, specifically of the artist's life and work.

It is a kind of inner journey, coexisting between unpublished works, also recent, with other creations from previous decades. Curated by Pía Minchot and Javier Carrera, it also tells an artistic and cultural history of the city of Huesca, with representations of the population itself, in addition to placing Huesca on the map of contemporary art.

Structured in three areas or acts, like a kind of opera, this round trip by Alberto Carrera Blecua, in addition to having a prologue and an epilogue, the exhibition route invites the visitor and his gaze to create a journey through an introspective journey and to traverse invisible landscapes of the mind itself. The works selected by the DPH coexist between emotions, memories and states of consciousness, creating a look in 1988, when Carrera Blecua exhibited in Huesca with El viatge.

Conceptual elements such as sensuality, permanence, solitude, power are elements that will be found in the exhibition and it is perfect for talking with the artist, his work and all its facets. Alberto Carrera Blecua is considered a reference in contemporary art and is the most international Huesca painter of his generation.

The beginning is marked by G7 round trip, along with other pieces and texts by Javier Carnicer, musician and poet. From here it will go to the Garden in the Sea, in the second act with the inner journey, highlighting seven self-portraits by Goya interpreted by Carrera Blecua, to arrive at the Maleït viatge. Constant themes with an introspection of the self, without forgetting that the artist was multifaceted, since along with painting, he created artistic installations.

Pía Minchot has described the project as "a personal journey in which we encountered Alberto's work, and to which we wanted to give a story in order to be able to tell his work in a way that did not fall into the category of an obituary or a posthumous tribute, and that was not a retrospective either. We did not want to speak from the codes of art."
