El Bòlit begins a new stage with the appointment of Oriol Fontdevila i Subirana (Manresa, 1978) as its new director. His election, the result of a public selection process, has been assessed by the jury as the most solid artistic proposal with the greatest projection capacity for the Girona facility. The position, linked to a four-year contract with the possibility of an extension of two more, will be effective from June 2.

The proposal presented by Fontdevila stands out for its ambitious vision that seeks to consolidate the Bòlit as a reference for contemporary art in Girona and the country. The project emphasizes the transformative role of the visual arts, its educational capacity and its commitment to democratic values. At the same time, it proposes lines of work focused on the promotion of quality artistic production, the strengthening of territorial collaboration and the creation of links with international networks that open up new opportunities for artists in the territory. Improvements in the area of the center's management and organization are also highlighted, with a clear commitment to good professional practices, a gender perspective, cultural diversity, citizen participation and environmental sustainability. "This appointment represents a firm step towards a Bòlit with more ambition, more commitment and more connection with citizens", stated Quim Ayats Bartrina, deputy mayor and councilor for Culture of Girona City Council.

Fontdevila brings a recognized career in the field of contemporary art. He has been co-director of the Sala d'Art Jove of the Generalitat de Catalunya (2006-2020) and currently leads, together with other teachers, the Master in Exhibitions: Curation and Design at the EINA-UAB School. His experience includes curating projects in institutions such as the Fundació Joan Miró, the Fundació Antoni Tàpies, Hauser & Wirth Menorca, La Panera or the Tecla Sala Art Centre. In 2022 he was responsible for the project that represented Catalonia at the Venice Biennale, within the Eventi Collaterali program, convened by the Institut Ramon Llull. Fontdevila is also the author of the book El arte de la médición (Consonni, 2018), the result of a research residency at the MNCARS, and is currently working on a doctorate in curatorial studies at the UOC, after having completed the MRes Art: Exhibition Studies master's degree at Central Saint Martins, University of London.
