The Carulla Foundation has chosen Aida Boix as the new director of the Terra Museum, replacing Gemma Carbó, who left the position at the beginning of March. This appointment coincides with the closing of a significant stage for Boix, which brings to an end eight years at the helm of the Lo Pati Art Center in Amposta.
Boix took over the direction of Lo Pati in 2017, after winning the public competition for its direction, replacing Vicent Fibla. He did so with the desire to build a model of center rooted in the Terres de l'Ebre, but open to international dynamics and discourses. Over this time, he has consolidated a solid and coherent artistic programming, with a determined commitment to contemporary creation linked to the territory, the social context and critical thinking.
A graduate in Art History from the University of Barcelona, she also completed a Master's in Advanced Studies in Art History, specializing in "Art in Society". Her professional career also includes a period in the Department of Research and Investigation of the Vatican Museum and a scholarship at MACBA, where she collaborated on several museographic projects. In addition, she has been responsible for the cataloguing, inventory and conservation of the municipal art collection of Amposta, a task aligned with the founding objectives of Lo Pati.
His work has been key to positioning Lo Pati as a reference space in the Catalan artistic scene, opening it to new audiences and promoting the support of emerging and established artists. The announcement of his replacement marks the end of a stage that has left a deep mark on the cultural panorama of the south of the country.
