The CCA Andratx has recently inaugurated A Family Affair, an exhibition that brings together the works of three members of the Utzon family: the Danish Lin Utzon and her children Naja and Mika. Through this exhibition, the three artists share their individual trajectories and influences, establishing a dialogue about nature, space and common memories, all under the influence of Mallorca.
This is an intergenerational exhibition that explores the deep bond of this family with the island and highlights the power of place as a source of inspiration. Lin Utzon (Copenhagen, 1946), who currently lives in Mallorca, has been strongly influenced by the serenity and spirituality that the Mallorcan landscape conveys. His works, such as Eternity, use materials such as porcelain, ceramics and tiles to explore themes such as the contrast between fragility and permanence, a subtle dialogue between the ephemeral and the enduring that is reflected in his own childhood experiences, where nature was his main point of connection.

The work of Naja Utzon Popov (Copenhagen, 1973) also has deep roots in the island's land. Her proposal under the title Terra is nourished by the organic forms and textures that characterize the Mallorcan landscape. Through ceramics and textiles, Naja creates works that speak of nature as a living, flexible and changing entity, mixing rootedness with expressive freedom.
On the other hand, Mika Utzon Popov (Sidney, 1971), the youngest of the three, presents Domus Meus, a series of pieces that explore the relationship between personal architecture and the emotional memory that the island evokes in him. With materials such as bronze, ceramics and textiles, Mika seeks to capture the essence of the house, not only as a physical structure, but as a reflection of the interior and emotional space that has been created through his Mallorcan childhood. His works are a mixture of respect for natural materials and at the same time an innovative and very personal vision of space.

The exhibition, which will be open until September, also coincides with a celebration of the CCA Andratx, which in its 25 years has been a meeting point for more than 900 artists from all over the world. In collaboration with Patricia and Jacob Asbæk , the founders of the centre, A Family Affair not only shows the art of the Utzon family, but also the legacy of a place that has welcomed art and innovation over the years. Through this exhibition, the CCA Andratx reaffirms itself as a creative space that promotes the exchange between artists and local culture.
