Until April 29, you can visit the temporary exhibition Tempo: movement or pause, by the Girona artist Laura Bergillos (1992), in the exhibition hall of the Casa de la Cultura of the Tossa de Mar City Council. This exhibition has been the winner of the Exposicions Viatgeres 2024-25 program of the Girona Provincial Council. According to the author, this project is the result of years of exploration and is still evolving. It brings together pieces that investigate the perception of the moment and the spatiotemporal conception, addressing concepts such as the finite, the infinite, the present, contemplation, meditation and transience. Bergillos works with seemingly fragile, volatile and vibrant fabrics, creating minimalist installations where emptiness and silence are an essential part of the work. As she herself says: "Contemplation is her ultimate goal. I also like to play at generating mystery and curiosity in the room."
Art critic Alexandre Roa Casellas highlights that the works in this project explore various dimensions of time: “Waiting, stopping (silence), suspension, evolution, the passage of time or the very concept of process. Bergillos examines the temporal issues in the artist's work, a meta-reflection that allows him to question its very nature.” Among the most relevant pieces in the exhibition are The Wait, Cesura and Temps (s), as well as other works such as Rallentando, Instant de canvi, Espirando, Partitura, Silencis and Compàs, among others.

A trajectory marked by textile tradition and artistic research
A graduate in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona, Bergillos specialized in sculpture with soft materials and sculptural installation. She also completed a postgraduate degree in sensory language and poetics of play at the University of Girona. With this academic background, she has given a new perspective to the textile tradition that she learned from the women in her family since childhood. Her work with seemingly delicate and vibrant fabrics has allowed her to build an intimate and sensitive exhibition space, where she seeks to stimulate the senses and invite the viewer to a reflective and meditative experience.
