The Espai Eat Art de Banyoles of the Lluís Coromina Foundation is hosting the exhibition 'European Resonances: Eduard Bigas evokes Josep Pla', an exhibition produced by the Josep Pla Foundation that brings together a series of pieces inspired by the reading of the work of the Empordà writer. The exhibition will be inaugurated tomorrow, February 7, and can be visited until April 26. Eduard Bigas' works are structured around various spaces that have marked the life of Josep Pla, illustrating the cosmopolitan profile that unites both authors. The artist is inspired by the reality reflected in Pla's words to project his gaze onto the present, inviting us to reread the history of a century ago and, at the same time, shedding light on the current moment.
Since childhood, Bigas showed an innate talent for drawing and painting. His first solo exhibition took place in 1990 at the Sala d'Art Artística in Girona. After exhibiting regularly in Catalonia, he began to travel with the desire to discover other realities, carrying out residencies in cities such as Sydney, New York, London, Tokyo and Taiwan. Currently, and for more than a decade, Berlin has been the center of his artistic and personal life. During these years, Bigas has exhibited his creations in various galleries and spaces on the peninsula as well as in the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany and Taiwan.
The exhibition 'European Resonances' was already on view during 2024 at the Espai Isern Dalmau in Barcelona and now, it arrives in Banyoles to offer a new opportunity to enjoy the literature of Josep Pla in the hands of the art of Eduard Bigas, a very interesting symbiosis between two artistic figures who, despite belonging to different eras, dialogue and complement each other.
