The contribution of the artists has been fundamental, 23 creators who have donated one or two works for the cause that has favored with one thousand nine hundred euros Carol García, a drawing teacher who saw her premises destroyed by the flood and mud. The idea of an auction of Sitges art to benefit the Carol Garcia de Paiporta academy was carried out by Imma Subirà Caro this past Saturday, February 1st, with the participation of El Taller de Núria Corretgé, the rauxa of Isidre Roset and the selfless collaboration of Javier Mezzo, Nuria Matas, Eli Rosell, Mariona Gimeno, Nuria Lamsdorff, Teresa Ibañez Thomas Vilhelm and Jordi Griset. On the other hand, the call has found its echo in the people attending the charm of the drawings and paintings offered at a symbolic and popular starting price of €50, and some went up to double it, and one, that of Adolfo Rua, multiplied this initial price by eight to climb to €400, full of emotion and solidarity towards the Valencian companion.
One by one the works were appreciated and valued, photographed and catalogued, admired and commented on, chosen and coveted to finally receive the hammer blow that assigned them to the highest bidder, in a fight without any deaths or injuries. Saturday afternoon ended with a satisfactory and effective result of 1900 "bugs" of solidarity and camaraderie that go to Valencia. From the Workshop of an artist and art teacher from Sitges, Núria Corretgé, to the Academy of Arts of another artist and art teacher from Paiporta, Carol Garcia, who has seen how help has many paths and many forms of conception with the invoice of love like the heart that Pilar Mena has drawn and serves to convey the effort that Imma Subirà brings together and leads with her left hand and insistence.

Because we must remember that before this solidarity action, Imma has carried out two others: the one at the collection point on Carrer de l'Aigua with the six vans full of aid boxes that have arrived at ground zero where she has found the return and gratitude of friends like Paco Bodi, twinned with the Sitges dancer Silvia Cuesta. Like in a mirror, each action has a reflection and each look a word of comfort and affection. The other action undertaken and carried out was the concert at the Escorxador, with the Big Band Sitges at the forefront but with a generous filling of sound artists, singers and instrumentalists who contributed their grain of sand, their blue note to collect money that has gone towards the music school and the Primitiva band of Paiporta. And the group of volunteers around the poignant Subirà Caro.
It's lovely how art moves us and makes us feel moved. The enchantment of objects arises from a spell born of words, of chats, of calls and of voice messages. Little by little what was a dream becomes real, feasible, tactile, it is realized with the collective production led by a candid soul called Imma, called Carol, called Mariona and in the end like a round dance it encompasses all the people of the neighborhood, all the inhabitants of a town who sing, dance and laugh around a table or a bonfire made of twigs of humanity and lit with eyes blazing with love that demands to be reciprocated.

To bid, to make lawful, to give permission, to give as a gift for the sake of charm and exchange. To appraise, to put a price on a service, on an object brought to the market of the beautiful caire. To request, to ask, to put up for competition, to exhibit publicly. DANA, COVID and other acronyms with which we try to hunt down reality have taught us the resounding value of community, the immense strength of humanity, the power of union. Let us learn the lesson, let us know the background, let us be able to be amazed, to be amazed, to marvel at the miracle of life, a rare and fragile flower that needs our care and attention. The poet Joan Salvat-Papasseit said it: “Nothing is petty because the song sings in every strand of a thing”.
