After a 2024 full of milestones, the Fundació Mies van der Rohe faces 2025 with a program that promises to continue expanding the impact of architecture on a local and international scale. By consolidating collaborations between institutions, artists and architects, this year's project aims to redefine the way we perceive and experience architecture, with proposals that combine research, creativity and reflection, and reinforced by the recognition of the ADI Cultura a la Trajectòria and ArtsLibris Banc Sabadell Awards for the book Inviting Life.

The program includes the launch of the EUmies Awards Young Talent 2025 , an event that highlights the best final year projects from schools of architecture, landscape architecture and urbanism. This initiative, which will take place within the framework of the Biennale Architettura 2025 , invites us to discover how new generations of architects are approaching contemporary challenges with innovation and commitment. In the field of research, the Lilly Reich Fellowship for Equality in Architecture consolidates its key role in giving a voice to historically invisible figures. The fourth edition of this fellowship presents the project Transnational Narratives: A Documentary Celebrating South Asian Women in Architecture , which highlights the contributions of South Asian women in this field. Other initiatives linked to this fellowship will also be highlighted, such as the exhibition 'Anna Bofill Levi. Architecture as a Counterpart (1977-1996)' and the publication Lilly Reich in Barcelona.

One of the highlights of the 2025 program will be the artistic interventions, which will seek to establish a dialogue between art and architecture in the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion. These proposals explore various ways of interacting with the space, turning it into a place of reflection and experimentation. One of the most outstanding interventions is 'A Room of One', presented by the Galeria Il·lacions . This exhibition, which had already been shown previously at the same gallery, adopts a feminine perspective and connects ten contemporary creators with ten pioneering women of design, such as Anni Albers or Charlotte Perriand . Inspired by the work of Virginia Woolf, 'A Room of One' is a tribute to these historical figures through contemporary works that rethink the role of women in design and architecture.

Within this same context, Xevi Bayona will present 'The Godmother and the Belongings of Domesticity', an intervention that revolves around how objects and furniture transform a space into a place full of memory and meaning. This proposal is built around the belongings of a real godmother, posing a reflection on life, death and the emotional bond with domestic spaces. Inspired by Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities, Bayona will transform the space with furniture hanging from the ceiling.

Also of note is the proposal 'Dialogues with Nature', by Regina Saura and Rita Roqueta , which promotes a connection with the environment through art and architecture. This intervention uses elements such as water, glass and air to create a sensory experience where transparencies and natural reflections play a fundamental role. The aim is to transform the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion into a space of reflection that invites us to rethink the relationship between man and nature.

Finally, the 2025 program will include several publications, conferences and events that will consolidate the Foundation's role as an international reference. Among the publications, the one that will compile the journey of the Mies van der Rohe Foundation since its beginnings stands out, and as for the conferences, the focus will be on promoting the exchange of experiences and knowledge on the role of the media in the dissemination of architecture, especially in the context of major events, such as Barcelona being the World Capital of Architecture in 2026.
