Contemporary art floods different neighborhoods of the city
Obertura bets on tours of the public space to discover works of art located in the streets, squares and buildings of Madrid. Following in the wake of the last edition, the commitment is once again to creation with La voluntá, a show by Luz Arcas, founder of the company La Phármaco, conceived especially for Obertura and which will take place in the Jerónimos cloister of the National Museum of meadow In addition, literature finds its space by claiming the role of bookstores in the dissemination of culture. For this reason, spaces such as La Central, Tipus Infames or Taschen will have a special selection of art books.
This year, coinciding with Obertura, the University of Nebrija is organizing I my eyes are like the sherry that the guest leaves in the glass, a group exhibition that can be seen from September 14 at the Galileu Cultural Center and where the 'self-fiction, desire and honesty intertwine to accompany the viewer towards an experience of current intimacy. Also new for this edition, the Portuguese Embassy has prepared an itinerary to visit the Madrid galleries that represent Portuguese artists.
Aware of the need to be accessible to the public, Obertura Madrid Gallery Weekend has its own app - available for free on Google Play and AppStore - which is active throughout the year. Through it the visitor can organize his route and enjoy the artistic offer of the different galleries distributed by neighborhoods such as Lavapiés, Lletres, Centre, Saleses, Chamberí or Salamanca.
