Enric Sagnier's building, converted into the Museum of Modernism ten years ago, exhibits a collection of almost two hundred emblematic works of Catalan modernism. The extensive proposal is framed in the relationship between The Four Cats and Pablo Picasso. It is no coincidence that the exhibition is included in the programming of the fiftieth anniversary of the death of the Andalusian painter.

The proposal begins at the epicenter of Catalan modernism, the brewery Els quatre gats, which functioned as a meeting point for creators. As the title of the exhibition suggests, to those known as 'The Four Cats' (Ramon Casas, Santiago Rusiñol, Miquel Utrillo and Pere Romeu), in reference to Le Chat Noir in Paris, a young Pablo Picasso joins them, who designed the cover of the menu offered by the brewery (Els Quatre Gats beer menu).

The exhibition brings together sculptures, paintings, posters, furniture and drawings. Along the route, which occupies the two floors of the museum, various facets of the movement are presented, in a story that navigates between the revolutionary and alternative work of the Four Cats and the religious proposals of the circle of Sant Lluc, headed by Antoni Gaudí.

In this aspect, the proposal is so broad, that its intention is blurred in a saturation of works that lose their individual power. Nevertheless, the exhibition, open until July 14, offers the opportunity to enjoy the museum's extensive modernist collection.
