5 Spanish artists participate in the Art Situations section of ARCOmadrid 2023

A total of five Spanish artists have participated in the Art Situations section of 500 m² in Hall 7 of Ifema, on the occasion of the Arco 2023 fair. The artists participating in this edition have been: Elena Aitzkoa, Nora Aurrekoetxea, Lucía Bayón, Pablo Capitán del Río, Aleix Plademunt, Elsa Brès, Salomé Chatriot, Marie-Luce Nadal, Benoit Piéron and Yoan Sorin. This year's selection has been made by the Art Situations committee of experts who are Maria del Corral and Vicent Todolí, Lorena Martínez and Chus Martínez.

This exhibition has been accompanied by the publication of a bilingual book in Spanish and English entitled "Digo a la Tierra: fluyo. Al Agua: soy" with text by Chus Martínez, which is the backbone of the entire publication, and brings together the ten artists who participate in this edition of Arts Situations. According to Chus Martínez "this book is a meeting that aspires to found robust future relationships. Relationships between readers and artists, and also between the latter. Is this possible? This is how we consider it. Books are ideal for capturing certain moments and the current is certainly important."

The publishing house Turner has been in charge of designing a very careful edition, which will be distributed internationally. The book talks about the work of the artists exhibiting in this year's edition of Art Situations and according to Martínez "the referenced artists form an eclectic group, both formally and materially, that seek to address the need for tenderness , as well as a new love for life."

Art Situations is a private non-profit organization that wants to promote the dissemination of the younger sector of today's art and bring it closer to a wider audience, with a perspective view. Its founder, Pilar Forcada was the soul of Arts Situations and after her death, her husband Marcel Pascual, current director of Art Situations, took over in this project. The aim of this exhibition which is presented as part of the Arco Madrid 2023 program is to promote this exhibition which will be held in Spain and France.
