The Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez Jiménez, will present the National Architecture Prize for 2021 to the architect Carme Pinós on 26 May in a ceremony to be held that day at 7 pm at the Llotja de Palma. The award ceremony has the collaboration of the Government of the Balearic Islands and the Official Association of Architects of the Balearic Islands (COAIB).

Carme Pinós thus receives the 2021 National Architecture Award, the highest Spanish award in the field of architecture, rewarding her work and career that has led her to become a benchmark for architecture both nationally as international. The prestigious Barcelona-born architect was selected by the jury to receive the 2021 National Architecture Prize at the suggestion of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Sant Ferran, the Arquia Foundation, the ETSA of Valencia and the Superior Council of Architects' Associations. of Spain (CSCAE).

Chaired by Margarita Langarita Sánchez, the jury highlighted Pinós “the social responsibility and sustainability pursued in his projects” and also mentioned his transversality as a professional, promoting the dialogue of architecture with other disciplines. and demonstrating a great capacity for dissemination both inside and outside our borders ”.

Composition of the jury

The jury for the 2021 National Architecture Prize was made up of Álvaro Siza Vieira, 2019 National Architecture Prize; Alberto Campo Baeza, National Architecture Award 2020; Luis Fernández-Galiano (proposed by the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando); Mar Loren Méndez (proposed by the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities); Sol Madridejos Fernández (proposed by the Superior Council of Architects' Associations of Spain); Eva Armas Gil (proposed by the Spanish Federation of Journalists' Associations); and María Langarita Sánchez (proposed by the General Directorate of Urban Agenda and Architecture). Also, the secretary of the jury was the general director of Urban Agenda and Architecture, Iñaqui Carnicero, and the secretary of acts was Marta Callejón Cristóbal, deputy general director of Architecture and Building.
