January 5th: magic, tradition and design at the DHub
A giant, luminous tortell transforms the Three Kings ritual into a collective and interactive experience.
January 5th brings with it an unmistakable magic: it is the eve of one of the most anticipated traditions of the year, the arrival of the Three Wise Men. Illuminated streets, floats full of music and colors, and the excitement of the little ones counting the hours... This day becomes a prelude full of hope, fantasy and popular culture, a reminder that, in culture, tradition and imagination always go hand in hand.
This Christmas, the Disseny Hub Barcelona brings this magic to the world of design with Al golgat , a light installation that can be visited until February 8. The work starts from an everyday and intimate gesture — the ritual of the Three Kings cake — and transforms it into a monumental and participatory experience. The DHub lobby becomes a large Christmas table thanks to an inflatable cake six meters in diameter, illuminated from the inside, which surprises and invites you to come together.
Interactivity is one of the central axes of the work: a device transforms the moment of cutting the tortell into a game full of good wishes and festive complicity. At the heart of the installation is a yellow button that poses the question: “What is hidden in your piece of tortell? Press to discover it”. By pressing it, visitors are faced with their Christmas luck: they can find the little king figurine, the bean that involves paying for the tortell, or an empty piece, the more prudent option, but equally full of tension and fun.
Al altavoz is a creation of the Gracias Grecia studio, specialized in design and cultural and exhibition productions. With this work, the team combines strategy, creative direction and curation to transform a traditional element into a collective, luminous, interactive and festive experience, making the DHub a meeting point where culture, tradition and design meet under the magic of Christmas.
