Until December 21, the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona hosts Drap Art'25, the International Festival of Sustainable Art, which transforms the streets and emblematic spaces into a great laboratory of creativity and environmental commitment. For a whole month, the public will be able to discover a wide range of exhibitions, cultural actions and participatory activities that highlight how art can transform everyday objects into creations with a strong ecological message. The participating artists work with recycled, natural and reused materials, creating works that not only surprise with their aesthetics, but also invite us to reflect on our consumption habits and relationship with the planet.

Among the most outstanding exhibitions is In Memoriam. Pioneers of Sustainable Art , in the Chapel of Santa Àgata of the Barcelona History Museum. This exhibition, curated by Raquel Medina de Vargas, pays tribute to three key figures in Catalan art—Daniel Argimon, Amèlia Riera and Josep Guinovart—and shows how, from the second avant-garde until the 1990s, current concerns about sustainability and criticism of consumer society were anticipated, highlighting the reuse of found objects as an expressive and critical language.

  • Electrothermal No. 2 – Amèlia Riera (1978).

At the same time, the Espai El Borsí per al Barri hosts a selection of artists chosen through a call, with proposals that connect creativity and environmental awareness. The exhibition Sustainable Mediterranean Art presents works by 16 artists from the Mediterranean basin who promote a more sustainable world through recycled, natural and organic materials, while L'Impacte Humà , organized jointly with Fundació Baleària and Art amb B, explores the dialogue between culture and territory from a sustainable perspective.

  • Stealing the light – Amadeu Flix Miguel.

Another relevant space is the Casa de l'Ardiaca, which hosts visual interactions by Lesley Yendell and Enric Alonso Masana, offering a sensory and reflective experience from November 28 to December 21.

Drap Art'25 also proposes a cultural circuit that includes an artistic recycling market, responsible consumption activities, performances and participatory workshops, turning the Gothic Quarter into a living space where art and sustainability meet with the public. The festival thus invites us to rediscover how creativity can transform everyday materials into works full of meaning and to rethink our impact on the planet through art.

  • Pisque & Soma – Manuel Martí Moreno (2023).
