On April 28, 1998, a space that would soon become a cultural reference in Sant Cugat and the Catalan artistic scene opened its doors. It was the GaLeRia, a project promoted by Eduard Batlle, who conceived the place as a meeting point between artists, the public and the gallery owner, and also as a space for dialogue, dissemination and promotion of contemporary creation. For almost three decades, the GaLeRia has been the scene of exhibitions, presentations and conversations that have contributed to giving visibility to numerous emerging and consolidated artists.
Now, twenty-eight years after its inauguration, the GaLeRia is closing its doors for good. With this closure, Sant Cugat is losing one of its most emblematic cultural spaces, which over the years has woven together creators, collectors and art lovers. The farewell not only marks the end of an era, but also invites us to reflect on the challenges that independent galleries face in an increasingly digitalized and competitive context.

MIQUEL VILLÀ, Tafí Viejo..
Since its foundation, the GaLeRia has been an active driver of the cultural life of Sant Cugat, offering not only art exhibitions, but also a wide range of complementary activities such as talks, concerts, conferences, round tables, meetings with artists, tributes and poetry readings. The project was born with the clear intention of functioning as a platform for meeting and dialogue between artists, the public and the gallerist, and of supporting the dissemination and promotion of quality artistic creation. This trajectory and commitment to culture were recognized in 2019, when the GaLeRia received the Career Award at the fifth edition of the Bonart Awards.
Throughout its 28 years of activity, the GaLeRia has distinguished itself by offering a diverse and quality selection, focused mainly on figurative painting, original graphic work and sculpture in all its forms, and with special occasions dedicated to photography. Its catalog has reflected a wide range of artists, from new creators to established names on the contemporary scene. In total, the gallery has organized approximately 150 individual exhibitions, giving visibility to more than 40 different contemporary artists, and consolidating itself as a key space for the promotion of artistic creation in Sant Cugat.

ROBERT LLIMÓS, Intruder.
To close its cycle, the gallery has organized two exhibitions dedicated to Catalan figuration of the 20th century, which bring together selected works from its collection. Each piece represents a small fragment of the history of Catalan figuration and constitutes a unique opportunity to learn about and enjoy this legacy. The works are offered to clients and collectors at very attractive prices, with the hope that they can enjoy them for many years, as the gallery itself has done.
Among the artists present at these exhibitions are: Xano Armenter, Leonard Beard, Simó Busom, Josep Busquets, Ricard Canals, Joan Colom, Rafael Duran, Pere Gastó, Xavier Gosé, Manolo Hugué, Manuel Humbert, Rafel Llimona, Robert Llimós, Santi Moix, Josep Moscardó, Ramon Moscardó, Ignasi Mundó, Carles Nadal, Isidre Nonell, Roberto Ortuño, Romà Panadés, Perico Pastor, Jordi Pintó, Pere Pruna, Josep Puigdengolas, Gabino Rey, Josep Roca-Sastre, Josep Serra Llimona, Joan Serra, Alfred Sisquella, Francesc Todó and Miquel Villà.
