Words of Love. An essay on the passions of Núria Güell will be the protagonist as the next exhibition of the Centre d'Arts Contemporànies de Vic, since from September 4 to October 18 where the artist questions the instituted representations and the cultural mandates learned around passionate love and its consequences.
His work is distinguished by the conception and execution of actions that can be both legal and illegal, which involve the participation of other people and aim to question, challenge and subvert pre-existing power structures. These interventions not only highlight dominant social and political dynamics, but also invite the individuals involved and the viewer to reflect on their role within these power relations, generating an active and participatory experience that transcends the purely artistic realm.

"On the plane of reality, we continue to suffer from believers who exterminate others in the name of love for a God; all the nationalists who continue to throw themselves into mutual destruction for the love of some homeland or matrimony; adolescents who understand zealotry as signs of true love; the mother who kills her children so that they do not suffer; revolutionaries who give their lives or take them for the love of some idea of social revolution; or the lover who decides to kill his beloved (or vice versa) when he sees that he is losing his love."
The project has been awarded the Video Creation Award in its tenth edition. It is a co-production that joins efforts between the Territorial Centers of the Public System of Visual Arts Equipment of Catalonia, Santa Mònica, the Department of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia and LOOP Barcelona. This award aims to recognize and promote the careers of artists who stand out for their innovative and experimental approach to the creative process within the field of video creation.
This new exhibition will mark the beginning of the last quarter of the ACVIC exhibition program and will be presented accompanied by a set of related activities that complement the reading. Among these activities, the panel discussion Between Love and Hate stands out, as well as the round table with the artist Núria Güell scheduled for September 25. In addition, within the framework of the Protesta Festival, on October 12 a Slam Poetry workshop led by Ariadna Bertran will be held, offering participants a creative and participatory experience that connects directly with the themes and approaches of the exhibition. These parallel proposals allow for an enriching dialogue between the work and the public, generating a context where art and participation feed off each other.

Text by Núria Güell
How many dramaturgically pre-established situations have we experienced in our love stories? What ghosts or what pleasures are hidden behind the mask of beliefs about the ideal of love? Could it be that the main cause of social conflicts is not hatred but an excess of blind love? What effects would the de-idealization of love have on the social order? And on us? What is the responsibility of culture in all these paradoxes?
During the process of creating and producing the work Paraules d'Amor, I had meetings with a criminologist, a private detective and a psychoanalyst. With fragments of these meetings and popular songs that I grew up with, I created this video essay that questions the institutionalized representations and learned cultural mandates surrounding passionate love and its consequences.
