Cadaqués has been an island of artists since the 19th century from all over the world. Dalí, Picasso, Duchamp, Hamilton, Jordi Benito, Fina Miralles and many others. The simultaneous presence of the scenic beauty and the geographical isolation of this enclave in Cap de Creus creates an environment favorable to creation.
Shigeyoshi Koyama (Osaka, 1940) is considered, indisputably, the dean of artists. He arrived in Cadaqués in 1970 hitchhiking and it didn't take long for him to stay there forever. Koyama is one of the protagonists of the new exhibition at the Cadaqués Gallery entitled Koyama - Aleu - Hamilton. Based on an image that will be on view until August 24.

The photograph created by François Bessiere, owner of the legendary Barroco from the seventies, gives rise to this new tour of the artistic space of Cadaqués. Koyama, Marc Aleu and Richard Hamilton appear in that snapshot and the gallery had been working for years to shape the exhibition based on that triptych of renowned artists.
The photograph had been taken by chance and after months of study it was considered that there was no relationship between the three artists. As the Galeria Cadaqués explains: “The three of them were in the right place at the right time. Koyama, Hamilton and Aleu are like the edges of an irregular triangle: three independent lines, born from distant points, which, in some unsuspected place in space, intersect”.

With From an Image, the visitor's gaze will trace their own hypotheses, relationships and new possible stories of connection between Shigeyoshi Koyama, Richard Hamilton and Marc Aleu. This exhibition proposal brings together three creators with diverse trajectories and styles, all of whom are linked by the use of the image as a creative starting point.
This new exhibition proposal from Galeria Cadaqués takes over from the enfants terribles that ended last July 9 with works by Martí Anson, Pauline Fondevila, Douglas Gordon, José Antonio Hernández-Díez, Paul McCarthy, Rasmus Nilausen, Ana Prada, David Shrigley and Nedko Solakov.
