The cycle com des d'aquí of Espai 13 continues its course and arrives Constructores de mons very similar to ours by Ludovica Carbotta which was inaugurated on July 11 and can be seen until November 2. A cycle curated by Carolina Jiménez where the new exhibition proposes a critical and playful look at the City as a place in dispute.

  • Builders of worlds very similar to ours, Ludovica Carbotta

Carbotta has been living in Barcelona since 2017 and in this new exhibition at Espai 13, he creates a childlike look at different urban waste: nails, chewing gum, pieces of furniture. Objects that have been transformed into large-scale sculptures and function as a large model that reinterprets the City on scale and from the imagination.

The artist transforms the space of the Miró Foundation, taking over from Josu Bilbao, Paula García-Masedo, in a cycle that will close Marwa and her exhibition Who Is Afraid of Ideology? Part 5 DayDream . Ludovica Carbotta creates a landscape of formwork, reused materials and changes of scale, where the recognizable elements of urban space are transformed and acquire different meanings depending on the observer's gaze. The space is thus presented as an environment in constant reconstruction, ambivalent and in permanent negotiation, which reveals to us how strange the urban spaces that we assume as normal are, and how imaginary the rules that govern them can be.

Who decides, who creates, who can use art? Interrogative questions that will arise from the gaze with the journey created by Carbotta. Innovative, political and community, as well as participatory are elements that are found in Constructores de mons muy similar a nostro , where he uses the museum as a starting point to intervene in public space and imagine other uses, other cities, other futures always in parallel with an investigation that goes in the direction of fictional site specificity .
